The objective of a super scoreball game, which is called a battle for scoring supremacy, is for one team to outscore their opposition, and force the opposition to humbly surrender their team flag or colors, at the end of the battle. Team colors are mounted on an official flagstaff which is listed on the World Super Scoreball Federation equipment list.

The game contains three periods called campaigns. Each game is normally officiated by a senior chief official, and two assistant chiefs. Teams are led into the battle by their coach, who is referred to as their field commander.  The first campaign of the battle begins with a tug of war at center field. A maximum, but equal number of players from both teams participates in this event. The winning team earns first ball possesion and an immediate scoring opportunity called a Hex.

During the Hex scenerio, all active players stand at center field. The tower watch (golaie) from the team that won the tug of war, stands in front of the left tower and is allowed a free shot. If they get it in the tower, they move to the right tower. If they miss, they ball is live. Players race into position and the game is underway. If the player makes the shot, they earn a kick on the net. A total of eight bonus points are possible during the Hex.

Movement up and down the field of play is accomplished by kicking the ball back and forth between players. Once offensive players arrive in the scoring zone or halfway across the field, they may handle the ball with their hands, but only if they receive it from a kick-pass, head-pass, or rebound off the structure.

The ball may not be picked up off the ground, but players may kick it up into the air so a teammate can catch it. Rebounds off the structures, ceiling, and walls are permitted when the game is played indoors. Movement with the ball is allowed, almost the same as in the game of basketball. Offensive players may travel up to two steps as soon as they receive the ball if they are immediately attempting to score. If not immediately attempting to score, they may take up to three steps, and dribble the ball up to three times before attempting to shoot, or pass the ball off to a teammate. An exception to this rule is made for children under twelve-years of age.

Scoring during a game of super scoreball is accomplished one of two ways; by kicking the ball into the net, or by throwing the ball into a tower opening. The first method involves kicking the ball past the defensive person who stands guard inside the net structure. In many other sports, this person is called a goalie. When playing super scoreball, this person is called the tower watch because there is a scoreball tower attached to each side of the net (two towers at each end of the field.) A ball which is successfully kicked past the tower watch, and into the net, is worth two points.  The second method of scoring involves throwing the ball through the opening of a tower. The opening leads downward through a chute which feeds the ball back into the net. A ball thrown into the opening of the scoreball tower is worth three points.

Goal-tending, dunking, and jamming of the ball into the tower is not permitted. A marked zone or "pocket" exists in front of each field unit (the two towers and the net). This is called the Hex zone. The Hex zone consists of a hex-shaped arc which extends outward from the far edge of each tower, to the center of the net. Players may not enter the hex zone while attepting to score.

There is a scoring strategy to the game; Teams should try to earn Hex bonus scoring opportunities. To qualify for a Hex scoring opportunity, teams should score first in the left tower, then on the right tower, then produce a successful kick on the net in subsequent trips down the field. When this is accomplished, the clock is stopped. All active players stand at center field while the last team member to score takes a free shot on the left tower. If they get it in, they move to the right tower. If they make that shot, they get a kick on the net.  A total of eight points is possible in this situation.
